What is Clippy?
Clippy by FireCube (Not by Microsoft) brings back the infamous Clippit into your desktop powered by the OpenAI GPT 3.5 model.
Clippy can be pinned to the screen for quick access to chat or just be left for nostalgia. This app is open source with improvements coming such as support for more characters like Bob or classic Clippy.
The new Clippy app brings the idea of a smart assistant to the modern era thanks to the power of AI, specifically leveraging OpenAI’s GPT 3.5 large language model.
You can ask Clippy about basically anything, whether it’s related to Windows or not. If you need help changing a Windows setting, you can ask Clippy how to do it, and it will tell you.
for example “How to make Windows 11 batter at night” it will give a detailed guide on how to do it.
Basically, it is based on ChatGPT and You have to use your own API Key to work this on your Windows 11 desktop the below guide will tell you how to set up this.
The Clippy app also has some settings so you can make it completely transparent or always pin it on a desktop so it will be on top of every app so you can ask anything you want.
currently, it is in beta version so some improvements are needed, you can not drag it anywhere you want, and whenever it is on top of any app so you can not interact with the area below this clippy app.
How to Download and Setup Clippy App on Windows 11/10
- First, go and download Clippy App directly from Microsoft Store and Install it.
- Now go to Open AI Platform and Signup.
- Then go to the profile section in the top right and click on “View API Keys“
- Click on “Create new secret key” and enter any name in the pop-up and Create a secret key.
- Now copy your secret key and paste it into the Clippy app by going into settings and saving it.
- Now hit the refresh button and start using it ask whatever is on your mind and enjoy!
