ChatGPT Down?, the AI chatbot that took the internet by storm with its ability to chat and generate human-like text, suffered an outage yesterday, leaving many users frustrated (and some a little more creative).
For those who tried to access ChatGPT, the experience was like hitting a brick wall. Desktops displayed a ChatGPT “Internal Server Error” message, while iPhones mirrored the desktop woes. 
Downdetector, a website that tracks online service outages, lit up with reports around 1 PM IST, indicating a widespread problem.
OpenAI, the company behind ChatGPT, acknowledged the issue quickly. Their status page confirmed what users were experiencing – ChatGPT was indeed unavailable for some. Thankfully, the update also included a glimmer of hope: OpenAI was “investigating the issue.”
This investigation progressed swiftly. By 1:32 AM PDT (around 2:00 PM India time), OpenAI informed the world they had identified the culprit and were “mitigating” it. This technical jargon means they found the bug and were working on a fix.
While some users undoubtedly sighed with relief, others took to their X (formerly Twitter) profiles to express their feelings. Some resorted to the time-tested method of coping with frustration – memes. Let’s face it, a good meme can make anything a little better, even a chatbot outage.

However, not everyone found humor in the situation. Some users simply vented their disappointment.
